Hey all.
I’m still sans scanner (all in one’s printer/fax/scanners suck), hence not much has been put up here.
But I’m showing a bunch of art in Minneapolis if you’re around here. Much of it will be what’s been posted here but there are other, larger, newer works too. During the month of August, starting this afternoon, you can check out my work in the upstairs of the downtown Freight House Dunn Bros Coffee shop.
Most of the work is available for purchase through me (not Dunn Bros.). If there’s a particular piece you’re interested in, let me know.
So my scanner here at work is not cooperating - part of the reason posts have been so infrequent. I’ve been doing some more detailed work lately and so that’s another reason, but also I’ve been busy and a bit lazy too. But I’ve got one up and running at home and I’m going to try to pick it back up again here and see if I can get back up to daily posts. So, here’s a teaser for the illustration I’ll post tonight or tomorrow. Battle Wizard!
OctaDrummah (shaded + artful paper bend).
Sploink. More than one lunch hour, obvi.
Squid Drummer.
So this was done over several lunches and while waiting for rides from work. I got a new sketch pad and I always feel anxious when I go to start the first entry. I’ve gone so far as to start drawing in the middle of a book rather than the first page. I know you can tear it out but I just have a thing, OK? Anyway, I wanted this first entry to be quality so I took my time, not something I’m usually very good at.
I think this is technically pretty good. One of my favorite gray pens stopped working right when I started shading, some perspective issues bother me and I don’t like the squid itself very much. But I like this one quite a bit.
It’s been too long. So let’s get back into it. I got most of this done during lunch and then finished it up last night.
Here’s the nearly done version for the Turkey Pindemic bowling team “logo”.
Some friends of mine are in a bowling league. they wanted shirts. They’re called “Turkey Pindemic” and they wanted a zombie turkey. So here’s the sketch i did. I’ll post the nearly finished product here in a second.
Obviously, i didn’t do this over one lunch hour. It was done mostly while waiting for my wife to pick me up one day and then finished over a lunch. That fur took furever. Wakka-Wakka-Wakka!
I’ve been sitting on this one for a while. I keep playing with it on breaks. I like it but there’s nothing weird about it. Since I do these in pen, I didn’t want it to be a giant dirty mess and once I “found” the drawing, I just kinda kept it going and it ended up being pretty straight forward, meaning, I didn’t add in some monster in the background, which I’ll do next time. I promise.
